Day 2 - Kailua, Laie, North Shore, Dole, and Friends!

Day 2 was a whirlwind tour of Oahu.  We started the day on Kailua Beach.  It was windy and cold, but the kids swam anyways.

We managed to catch the local shrimp truck right as we were getting ready to leave, and then another shrimp truck up the road.  We had to make sure to sample them all!

We stopped in Laie to see the temple there.

Then on to the north shore to see the "big" waves.  They weren't very big that day.

And no trip to Hawaii would be complete without some shaved ice.

I skipped the shaved ice so that I could fill up on the pineapple whip at the Dole Pineapple Plantation.  Love that stuff!  We toured the gardens and got lost in the maze.

We ended the day by catching up with some old friends from back in the Maryland days.  We had so much fun talking, and the kids had so much in common that if they didn't have different colored hair you'd almost think they were all twins!
