Preschool - The Lazy Way

Well, I have to admit that by the time Christmas rolled around, I was pretty burnt out on doing preschool.  We actually did do some Christmas themed preschools after the ones I posted about, but they were pretty laid back.  We talked about Christmas symbols and why we celebrate Christmas and read corresponding books, but we didn't do any activities or crafts.  We were lucky to get that much done, and I sure wasn't in the mood to blog.

I was hoping by taking a break and getting through the holidays that I would be back in the mood to do preschool.  Guess what?  It didn't work.  All the planning, book finding, organizing, etc. has pooped me right out.

So right now we're in preschool lite mode.  We are still doing school three times a week, but we are just doing the basics.  We do a lesson from Saxon K, a few pages in Alex's workbooks, and if we have the time and energy we also do a little science experiment.  And that's it.  We also read a lot of books, but that doesn't feel like school.  I like this so far because I don't feel guilt about not doing anything with him, but I'm also not killing myself planning.  Plus, we just found out that we're moving in a month and I need to focus on that and not on complicated curriculum.  I might pick back up with more involved lessons once we get to Oklahoma (bleh), but no guarantees!

So sorry if I'm disappointing my millions (haha) of readers, but my mental sanity is important to me.  :)  But on the other hand, I have been feeling like blogging more about regular life the way I used to.  We'll see what happens!

I understand how important that mental sanity is. Moving - Oklahoma - more details please . . . I imagine that is going to consume a lot of your sanity. Good luck.
